Kelly was never the athletic or overly fit one growing up but found this lifestyle as a junior in High School. Her passion for fitness came immediately and has only continued to grow over the years, ultimately leading her to pursue formal education in the field and seek out information from many resources and professionals in the industry.

After originally falling victim to all the misinformation regarding fitness and nutrition (like women shouldn’t lift weights and should eat like rabbits) and making countless mistakes along the way, she has been able to figure out the do’s and don’ts of training and find a balanced, sustainable and enjoyable approach to nutrition. Through all the up’s and down’s of her own fitness journey, she has discovered her passion and desire to help others along their own journeys and guide them along a smooth transition into a balanced and sustainable fitness lifestyle sooner rather than later.

Trainee Type:

I’m confident that I have the skills and knowledge to help any person reach their desired goals – whether it be primarily weight loss, muscle gain, preparing for sport, getting fit & strong for competitive or non-competitive reasons, or just wanting to improve health and overall quality of life. A lot goes into creating the optimal program for an individual considering his/her goals, history, preferences, etc. I’m here to take that stress and second-guessing away and provide you with the tools and guidance you need to get to where you want to be as well as provide additional support and assistance to ensure your goals are sustained and progressed to keep you moving in the right direction.

Training Philosophy:

I’m a firm believer that the basics are what work best when it comes to training. There are so many new and exciting tools, programs, equipment etc. available in the industry these days, but in my personal opinion and from my own experience, nothing beats the basic principles of strength training, conditioning and exercise. I’m never going to try to sell you on this “hot new thing!” or try to convince you that squatting on a BOSU ball is the magical answer to all of your problems. I’m here to take all of the basic, science-based principles of exercise and programming and apply them in a way that best fits YOUR lifestyle, goals and preferences. I can’t promise you magic, but I can ensure you that if you provide the effort and trust in me, I will get you to your goals in the most safe, effective and sensible way possible while enjoying the process at the same time.

Favourite Exercise:

For me, it’s a toss-up between deadlifts and hip thrusts. It’s hard to beat the feeling of ripping some heavy *** weight off the floor! Not to mention the deadlift is one of the most functional strength exercises out there and greatly conditions the entire body; particularly the posterior chain, which tends to be underdeveloped in most people without training. With that said, one of my favourite experts to look up to in the industry is Bret Contreras; popularly known as The Glute Guy. Bret popularized the barbell hip thrust and for good reason. This exercise has been extensively shown to hit the glutes better than any other exercise. Big, strong glutes are not only aesthetic but have drastically positive carry-over into the other main compound functional movements and are incredibly important for ideal posture, movement mechanics and overall athleticism.

We’ve been working with Kelly since June, and we told her we wanted to “step it up a notch” and Kelly certainly listened, she’s been kicking our butts regularly, getting us to try new exercises each week, that keeps us from getting bored. We’ve both noticed our clothes fitting better, and our strength and flexibility improving under Kelly’s tutelage. We have improved so much that we made the challenge board for the first time this week! Kelly has an infectious smile and positive outlook that really makes training with her enjoyable, which we are especially grateful for, when we hit the gym at 6 am. Kelly is very conscientious about our training, and listens to how we are feeling and is quick to modify our exercise routine to suit our individual strengths and weaknesses, which has really helped us progress rapidly. Kelly is very knowledgeable about personal fitness and has really been able to help us get fitter. We have no hesitation in recommending Kelly as a trainer for anyone who wants to improve their health.
